Defense of Marriage Act

You know, this just crossed my mind as I was replying to my previous post.

The Defense of Marriage Act thing. Marriage is a union between a man and a woman for the purpose of having and raising children.

Does this mean that if this bill passes (god forbid!) that all those couples out there who are married withOUT kids will be having babies in the next year? Or getting divorced? And what about those couples who CAN'T have children?

This could be taken to a completely illogical and extremely detrimental conclusion. I wonder if they've thought this out?

And I don't mean to offend any of those couples out there who don't have or want children, it's just something that crossed my mind earlier today.

Indeed - in fact I mentioned this exact thing to the boything earlier this month (y'see, he and I are engaged and I don't want any children) so I have told him that now we aren't allowed to get married - to which he replied "At least we have more money for beer."

This is my favorite part. They're trying to legislate the reasons people are allowed to marry, but if a male and a female Satanist decided to marry to form a coven of bloodsucking fiends to eat one another's feces in a basement and call down evil spirits, so long as they made it no one's business but theirs, they'd be protected under the law.

Because we're above all things a Moral Society.

As a childfree person, the fact that they even went there and said that marriage was all about having an raising children disgusted me. Talk about losing my vote forever. *gags*

I don't want kids, my husband doesn't want kids, he had a damn vasecomy. Ain't gonna happen.

I don't understand people who seem to think I shouldn't be married, because I don't want to spawn. Fuck 'em.

I got her name from someone on my friends list and when I clicked to look at her icons, hey, there yours was. Might want to check it out.

Well, good. I know that the girl I got her name from said that she was stealing icons. Maybe she deleted all of her stolen ones and replaced it.

But when I saw that icon, my first thought was, 'hey!'
