OH, ma lordy bejeesus!

First of all: to my LJ Fairy? Love you! Kisses, with tongue even.
I am such a slut.
Secondly: I have been distracted at work by the book Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach. Yeah, interesting subject - to say the least. I am finding it quite informative and, surprisingly, humorous. She has a way with words that doesn't make you get offended about the subject matter. Dark, but very entertaining. I highly recommend it. Just make sure you don't read chapter 3 while eating. Or just after eating. Unless, like me, you have a cast iron stomach.
I have the feeling that, by the end of this book, I will be whole heartedly donating my body to scince when I eventually pass. The possibilites are endless.
I find this passage quite...interesting:
The book is FULL of tidbits like that Some dark, others downright laughter inducing.
Thirdly: Chutney Popcorn is a damn good movie. Monsoon Wedding shall be next.
Fourthly: I have to move by the end of September, this house closes on the 28th. I have faith.
Fifthly: Dialogue in fiction is extremely important and Ian does it like few others.
Sixthly: (I know, I know I am one with the rambly-rambly) I was so stoked to discover that there is now a third omnibus in James White's "Sector General" series. I am lovin' me some medical sci-fi.
Seventhly: The drama at work is very entertaining, as I am leaving it behind I can make snarky comments. So fun.
Eigthly; I am NOT looking forward to next week. Six AM shifts all week to do the HUGE-ass music shift. Every section is being moved elsewhere. Literally EVERY damn CD in the store is being moved someplace else.
Ninthly (and last): I just had the realization that I turn 35 in ten days. I so can't believe it. I keep forgetting that I'm not still in my twenties and get strange looks all the time for my actions. Yes I did buy Frosted Cheerios in the hopes for a JC or Nick poster. Ended up with No Secrets. Ick. Frosted Cheerios make very good snacks, though so no big loss.
Off to choose what icons to upload. If anyone wants to make me pretties I won't say no.

I find this passage quite...interesting:
To learn the weight of a human soul, in 1907 a Massachusetts physician engineered a special bed-scale upon which he installed his dying patients. At the precise moment of their passing, he watched for a downward twitch of the needle. by his determination, the soul weighs three-quarters of an ounce - about the same as the big toe.

Date: 2003-08-13 09:06 pm (UTC)I'm not feeling old at all. I'm just not feeling that I'm as old as I am, if that makes any sense. I literally keep forgetting that I'm not really 25 and fresh out of college (if I had finished) or stuff like that.
Strange. Right now most of my RL friends are all in their mid twenties, maybe that's it.
