taking a break from computer stuff
Jun. 25th, 2003 05:17 pmI just thought of something
Big time so consider yourself warned if you haven't read it yet.
Many people seem to be exceedingly angry at Rowling for the "unnecessary and pointless" death of Sirius. After some thought and staying up waaay too late tryingto figure out why things won't workanymore on my computer which is another subject entirely never mind.
*takes deep breathe**
His death, it turns out, is probably VERY crucial to the series. Voldemort has now caused (by his own hands and his henchmen/women and why do I flash on the song Henchmen Are Fogotten?) the death of all of Harry's parental figures to date. His own parents and his godfather. The only ones left are the Weasley's, and to much lesser extent, Dumbledore and the Dursleys. And as we saw in the latest book none of them will be, or are, immune to attack - Arthur Weasley, the pigboy cousin who's name I forget and Dumbledore.
Rowling, in my humble opinion, is setting things up so that Harry, who is really not that agressively dangerous, will HAVE to take things to the level of being both physically and mentally able to kill another person. Yes, he's been angry at Voldemort, but now he feels he is capable of killing him. He thinks. I don't think he really is.
Yet.
I fear in the last two books we are going to see the Dursley's attacked, Dumbledore at least wounded if not actually lost in the Last Battle (how CS Lewis) and the death of one, if not more of, the Weasleys. Al to get Harry to the point where he will off Voldemort and not kill himself from the guilt.
A thought. Maybe not true but makes a little sense.
And on the computer note, Windows Media will NOT recognise any of my MP3s. Shit. Nor will it play half of my DVDs. Thank god for Real Player. WiIl have to look into why not.
