How exactly did I become a member of a community I have never heard of? Weird.

For those of you who remmber Neil Gaiman & John Bolton's Books of Magic, starting on the 15th of May, they are being turned into a series of novels for young adults. Written by Carla Jablonski with a forward by Neil himself.

Is it me or does Harry Potter pull a lot from that series? The glasses, the hair, the owl, the learning, the potential? Strange. I've decided that Dumbledore is the Phantom Stranger, McGonagall is Dr. Occult, Hagrid is Constantine and Snape is Mr. E.

Dr. Phibes! Whoo!!

I'm truly annoyed that Wendy & Richard Pini (the creators of Elfquest) are goingto be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of their series at the San Diego Comic-con at the end of July, along with the 10th anniversary of Terry Moore's Strangers in Paradise. Again with damn inventory at work. No Chicago concert, no comic-con, no CFTC.

I embrace the randomness.

Let's see... I discovered Elfquest at the first science fiction convention I ever went to, so that would have been... '81 or '82. Yup, I would have been about 18 or 19 then.

Wow.

Thanks for the reminder!

OOH! Got you beat. My first sci fi con was when I was just over a year old, my mom was 3 months pregnant and used as an autograph table by isaac Asimov & Gene Roddenberry. The stupid stupid woman didn't even ask for one. i still haven't forgiven here for missing out on Mr. Asimov's signature.

Then I never went to another con until 5 years ago.

We've had that very same discussion at work about those books. Well I haven't, having never read them. But others have. *winks*
