I've been awake since 10:30 yesterday morning. It is now 11:15 the next day.

I am wide awake with no yawning or anything. Eyes are a little wiggy right now, but nothing else. I'm almost positive I shall be unconscious by 7pm.

Question for the popfandom people. How did the term Sparkly Dance Boys come about? Anyone know?

And now, a humorous interlude for your entertainment. Or not.

Got a phone call from some polling company last week. Asking about radio airplay and whattayacallit, menus, playlists, things. Totally paraphrased.

Interviewer: what kind of music do you listen to?
Me: pretty much everything nowadays. Emphasis on pop, adult contemporary and country.
Int: how often, where and how long do you listen for?
Me: everyday, at least 3 or 4 hours. At home, on the way to work, at work.
Int: what do you do for a living?
Me: supervise a Music Store for Borders
Int: Cool. What radio stations do you listen to?
Me: Oh, I don't listen to the radio.
Int: Ummm, what?
Me: I don't listen to the radio. Haven't for a couple of years now.
Int: You manage a music store and don't listen to the radio?
Me: Yup.
Int: **silence**
Int: No, really?
Me: Truly, haven't listened to the radio since I lived in Cali and listened to KIIS, that was three years ago.
Int: **more silence**
Int: how do you learn about new songs?
Me: Hello? Manage a music store, I get promos and I can pretty much listen to what I want while at work. I get recommendations from customers and coworkers, Iread the music mags and trades. I'm pretty much on top of things.
Int: Weird. Wy don't you?
Me: hate all the ads and talking, DJs never tell you what you're listening to and I get subjected to crap when I don't want to. Mostly for the ads and talking though.
Int: THAT'S what I need to know.

and it went on. I don't hink he really believed me about not listening. True though. COuldn't tell yo what stations were out here or where they were o nthe radio dial. Last stations I listened to were Power 106 when I lived in Riverside in the mid to late 80s, KROQ during the late 80s early 90s and KIIS up until I moved.

We were actually on the original radio version of KROQ's Loveline in 1990, a whole group of us from the GLCC in Orange County, Young Adult program (or as we called ourselves YAP) fun stuff. They used to all some of the group in when they needed last minute guest sometimes. As a group I think we were on a total of 10 times or something. Fun stuff, crazy questions. Answers, too.

OK. Apparently I'm more tired than I thought. I'm babbling. Shutting up now.

Rupert Graves, in Room With A View, with the floppy hair, piano playing and pond scene. Yum!

I don't listen to the radio either, same reasons. Plus, no radio in my car, so while I drive I have to sing. Until the husband tells me to shut up.

I never listen to the radio myself. I have my favourite singers and groups, and I read a lot of music-oriented magazines, which means I'm always on top of what's being talked about ATM.

I think it's a control thing for me - with radio, you have to listen to what THEY want you to listen to.
