I'm thinking of starting a challenge.

Using the BPAL descriptions of their masculine scents as the base and Halloween as the deadline.

C'mon, just think of the stories that could come out of some of those descriptions"

Jolly Roger Sea spray with an undercurrent of leather, Bay Rum, and salty, dry woods.

Magus An ancient blend, swollen with arcane power: galangal, high john essence, frankincense, cedar, and sandalwood.

Bluebeard A scent swirling with dark rage, unbridled jealousy, and murderous intent. Violet, lavender, white musk and vetiver.

Fenris Wolf The raw, un-tamable power of chaos. Rosewood, amber, red musk and a dribble of red sandalwood.

It would, of a necessity almost, lend itself towards the angsty/dark and/or AU type of story. And, as I have no webste, I would need to figure out where to put them. And how to do it period. I've never done anything like this.

Ideas? Comments? Help??

I can't write, but I love to read. What fandom(s) are you thinking of?

I think it's a great idea! But there's really no need, IMO, to limit yourself to the masculine scents. halo and I made a list a while back playing around with nsync pairings as bpal scents, and you can see (http://www.livejournal.com/users/lilysaid/116466.html) that there's really nothing "feminine" about most of the scent descriptions. Anyway, yes, I would be very interested in a bpal challenge. :)

My website's open, if you need a hosting space, or at least a page to list links to individual stories from.

Interesting idea.

Isn't it?

Thaty would be cool! I just need to talk to someone who has done a challenge before to see how to go about doing it.

Jo's got some good ideas in her comment below, but there's not THAT much to it, really. Unless you want there to be. I did the movie crackfic challenge with Lyds a little over a year ago, and it went okay. We had a lot of people drop out, but I think that's just a risk you run when you host a challenge. And ours was so nebulous, what with it being open to any story anyone wanted to apply... ..this would be a LOT more concrete, with a specific list of song lyrics scent descriptions for people to work from, so I think anyone who signed up would be a lot more likely to follow through, etc.

I'm interested; helping, hosting, joining, whatever, just let me know!

lol

Sure I would.

And be TOTALLY late for whenever the deadline ends up being, but that's just how my musae work, apparently.

I don't write but I do read and this sounds like a fun challenge. Much more interesting than song-based challenges to my mind.

oh see, this is a very interesting take on a fic challenge. I think it would go over well.

I also think you should do it as a random description. Like find out how many people will write (or just put a ton of random descriptions in) and pull a description out of the hat for them. They can choose the pairing and you can limit it to sparkly boys or cross over. (Although mmm... sparkly boys) Pick a word limit. (seems like it would need to be at least 1000. Even I couldn't put together a description story in 500 words. And I can put plot and story and ending together in 300.) I don't know about hosting though. Lemme look into a few things.

I would join it.
