the Wishlist thing
Nov. 22nd, 2004 07:32 pmWasn't planning on it but I am actually able to fulfill some of them and have succumbed to the lure.
Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
The Wishlist
1. A mix CD of your favorite songs, I love things like that. And tell my why they are you favorites!
2. More Mochamint stories!! Lance/Howie for those of you not in the know.
3. That damned hard-to-find Justice League Animated: Hawkgirl action figure.
4. Anything from my Amazon Wishlist here
5. Heralds of Valdemar fanfiction, or links maybe??
6. I really don't need more LJ time or extra icon space so donate to someone who does! No fair doing this for one person and claiming it on more than one wishlist now.
7. A new computer? One that plays Sims 2, City of Heroes and maybe Everquest 2?? Or, failing that, howzabout a sparkly mouse pad?
8. Replacement copies for Mercedes Lackey's "Arrows" and "Last Herald Mage" Trilogies, as mine are about to fall apart. Too bad those were never released in hardback.
9. Wallpapers!! I have a hard-on for wallpapers. If anyone can get the pictures of Death's Granddaughter and The Death of Rats (not the X-mas ones) from Paul Kidby's The Art of Discworld (as my scanner sucks!) and can wallpaper them I would dearly love you. Also of anybody on the list following this list.
10. Underwear. I know, it's strange but I am intrigued by what people would do with this. Boxers or boxer-briefs only thankyouverymuch, size 34-36.
the wallpaper list (after the first five it's comic book stuff): Kevin Richardson, Drew Lachey, Bette Midler, Howie Dorough, Shemekiah Copeland, Legion of Super-Heroes, Teen Titans (all incarnations EXCEPT the half-aliens series), original New Mutants, Elfquest (oooh!!), PS 238, Castle Waiting, DC Tangent universe, Astro City, Ultimate Marvel universe, Justice Society of America and it's permutations. Hell anybody in my "interests list" works as well, I'm easy.
eta: Fairuza Balk!!! How could I forget her!
