It's been pointed out JKR said Voldemort is "NOT" the half-blood prince. Which puts something of a kibosh on that part of my theory, but not on the rest. So who IS the half-blood prince. If it ends up being Harry that will be just too predictable, although I think it will. If he ends up being the heir of another founder I will throw the books away with disgust, I warn you now.

In the same paragraph JK said Voldemort wasn't the half-blood prince, she said Harry wasn't either, good, eh?

grrr. I think the whole thing is a red herring, it's not the real title at all.

lol she's sworn blind it's the real title. She just likes screwing with us. It's her evil plan, man. She keeps dropping vague, mysterious, veiled hints into interviews and on her website, and she's had the fandom up in arms so many times the Greeks don't have abaci to count them on. Or, um, something.

athenaps is of the belief that it's going to be Hagrid. Half-human half-giant.

That makes more sense than anything else I've seen.

Hmmmmm, interesting, very interesting... does of course now have me thinking that Hagrid is going to die, but eh, everybody thought he'd die in the last one too.

With, of course, the requisite calamity in June.

No, no. Hermione and Ron don't die...they go back in time and become Dumbledore and Mcgonagall. Haven't you read Knight to King? You should.

Long, but makes sense.

The thing is, there's really only one person that we know who is half-blood and male in this story so far, which is Hagrid. Does half-blood mean mud-blood? And who decided that it did?

And she did say it wasn't Harry.

ooOOOooo!! He's going to be the Giant Prince as well.

I NEVER thoughtof that, I had completely forgotten he was half-blood.

This makes so much more sense than anything else I've heard.

The theory is mine, it belongs to me and thus I made it up. /End Pythonesque moment/ *bows*

It came to me in a flash as I was thinking about this that everyone was assuming that half-blood meant mud-blood, when maybe it didn't. Maybe he becomes Prince of the Giants, which would be nice, as they need the giants now. I can't think of any other character who is half-blood in that sense in the series, although I don't doubt we'll meet one or more yet. She's good at that. And it follows JKR's style of taking someone that society puts down and making them wonderful. The good guys always win, and love will win it all.

Maybe his brother will become King of the giants by defeating someone and Hagrid will become a prince. I dunno. Lots of ways for it to happen. Grawp has to come into this somehow too. She didn't introduce him and keep him aorund for nothing. And the centaurs have to know something. They watch the stars, and see the signs.

I must say that after Harry and Voldemort my first thought was Hagrid as well. Though, if there's one thing we know about Rowling its that she's full of surprises and always keeps us guessing (okay, so that's two things. She could very possibly introduce a completely new character OR reveal something new about a character we already know. But I'm sticking with my Hargid theory for now, cause I'll go insane wondering and speculating if I don't. *nods*

I'll stick with that theory as well, it makes so much sense. And outside of a new DADA teacher if she introduces another new major character I think my brain will explode.

My current, admittedly very odd theory, is that, should it be a pre-existing chara, its Lupin. Not a half-blood by way of birth, no, but he is both wizard and werewolf, and you never see or hear all that much about his wolfy side, or the werewolf community in general. You have to admit it would completely mess with Lupin to find out the one who changed him was some kind of werewolf leader, and oh, he's his/her heir (and JK does like to mess with her people). And, y'know, having that kind of connection in a largely reviled community, could do wonders for Order, come the battle.

...........yeah, okay, I just really like the idea of a werewolf cavalry. Shutting up now.
