Is going slowly but surely.

I decided I may as well use the next few weeks of packing to put my books, CDs and movies into databases (databasi?) so I know what I have and don't duplicate. Again. I have four copies of one of Ella's CDs. Idiot boy.

I have realized something.

I curently have counted over 165 mass market paperbacks of which the bulk ofthese are fantasy novels. The trade paperbacks lean more toward my literature (Robertson Davies is a god of Canada, thankyouverymuch), my histories and various other non-fiction type stuff. With the obligatory attendance of the cartoon/anime books and the gay stuff I stumble across (the Choose Your Own Adventure book?). My cloth titles are ALL fantasy, except for the Dickens & Twain sets which my mother has absconded with, damn her, those were expensive sets! She needs to read faster.

I am apparently something of a fantasy whore. I realize that I read as escapism so that explains quite a bit, my television viewing (when I did such) was mostly the documentaries, performance and historical dramas. Rarely sitcoms or series (except for Buffy and cartoons), and hardly ever the news.

Hmm.

Another realization came to me today (no relation to the first).

I am now 35. I live and act like I'm 25. Most people don't even realize I'm over 30 unless I tell them. Do I have to grow up?

And I completely forgot. Gregory Maguire, the author of Wicked is releasing a new one in October. Based on the Snow White story, I believe it's called Mirror, Mirror. I received a galley of it today and lent it to someone else soshan't be readin it until this weekend. He uses the Borgias in the story. Yes, Lucrezia Borgia seems to be this girls stepmother.

Gregory Maguire writes fairytale fanfic.

Who knew?

Various and Sundry

Um. I'm going to be 51 on Friday. I date a 26-year-old. And most people think I'm in my mid-thirties. You don't have to grow any more than you want to. And it is much better, in my expereience, if you stay true to yourself.

BTW, thank you for friending me. I enjoyed your replies in the thread we met in.

ummm, checks equipment.

Unless there was some sort of body switch. Yep, quite sure.

Scary thing is before I moved to this coast my books would have fit into 40 boxes (number at last count) now they fit into 8.

I wish there was a body switch. Blech. You could have mine in a heartbeat, with interest even.

Did you just throw out lots of books, or what?

Nope, I let the woman who I was living with at the time decide what to do with them. I told her to keep them, give them away, sell them or donate them. From what I understand she read what she wanted and gave the rest away to our coworkers.

I had decided to simplify my life and got rid of almost everything, including 12 boxes of movies. I kick myself for doing that now.
