I need to just win the lottery.
Mar. 15th, 2003 11:47 amOf course I would have to play first to win. Damn rules.
I just realized that I'm screwed at work. At least for the next month.
Follow me here, unless you don't want to know work things; then skip it, I'm too lazy to cut tag right now.
And the rant begins.
We are open seven days a week form 9am to 10pm (or 11 on the weekends) in order to get everything done that needs doing in my department (Multimedia, ooh the technical word) we need an opener, a closer and someone on the midshift. this means everyone will be able to maintain their sections, do the required department work, man the information desk, cover lunches and work at the registers. That is a total of 21 shifts per week. Add on the extra shifts on Friday & Saturday due the mass amounts of customers we get (add 2) and the extra shift I need on Release Date Tuesdays (at least 1) and you have 24 shifts. I have enough people to cover 15 shifts. That means 2 people a day with a third on Saturday.
And they have to ask why things aren't necessarily getting done quickly? Suck my balls. Hire me staff. My department accounts for 28% of the stores business. That's almost a third, and I have 3 out of 25 people on the salesfloor? The cafe has more people and they only account for 5%. this has been going on for months now. I've gotten tired of it.
I just want to scream at someone. They keep saying they're working on it. And then they hire a flake who quits after a week or so. Meanwhile, the few people I've looked at for positions and liked they never hire. Just ignore someone with over five years experience of hiring people why don't you. God, this almost makes me want to go back to the little stores I used to work at. My video store had the same staff for three years. The turnover at my last Borders was half the size of this one. I've only been at this store for almost two years (fuck! Two years already?) and there's only maybe 6 people (outside the managers) who have been here longer.
I swear I just want to spit.
