let there be light!
Jan. 21st, 2003 12:32 pmHave opened all ofthe curtains and blinds in my apartment, all the lights are on the sun lamp is hining. i want to go sit in my bathroom that is currently painted a blinding white color in preparation for the new color to go on top.
Listening to an Eddie Izzard triple play. Dressed To Kill, Glorious and Unbeatable.
Eating a chicken salad.
My vacation is going well, got an e-mail from someone I haven't heard from in a while and was a little worried about, chatted a bit with others, got the news the water is being turned off until they finish working on the water heater.
There was protest at the capital the other day against the war. Then some good ole boys showed up to make derogatory comments about "towel heads." Didn't attend. As much as I may or may not agree with what may or may not happen I do think that the potential of being involved in THREE wars at a time is just ludicrous. I haven't been following the news lately (yes, I admit it I don't watch TV or read the newspaper. I am one with the lameage.) so I can't make any informed remarks, just my own knee jerk reactions. I come from a military family, Dad was career Navy, sister a Marine, and brother was Air Force. So while I don't know much about the N. Korea situation or the Iraqi one I do feel that it's a little difficult to be at war with a concept and not a country. Eh. My parents were extremely political, even had FBI files on them during the Nixon administration (but then, who didn't?) and mayeb that's why I'm so apathetic towards politics. used to be an activist when I was younger, early to mid twenties, but lately just eh.
Film recs. Go rent Deterrance starring Kevin Pollack as a VP who became Pres when the previous one died (or something) and then has to deal with an Iraqi situation the day of voting and he gets snowed in at a diner. Tense and the ending was DAMN good. A total political thriller.
Oh, and The Lion In Winter. My favorite movie of all times. the script, the acting, the directing. All gorgeous.
