There's a party in my mouth!!
Dec. 3rd, 2004 10:06 amI baked yesterday.
Yes I did! Made me a Jello Cake.
No, it's not what you're thinking at all. It's wondrously the moistest cake you will ever eat. Little mouth orgasms.
This became a family tradition when I was about 12. My brother and I love these tings and never had a normal cake for our birthdays, our friends found them interesting. It's also easy to make, takes a while, but easy.
So I give you Jello Cake!
Lincoln's Ingredients:
Yello Cake Mix
Large box of Jello - either Lemon-Lime or Orange
Box of Pudding Mix - Vanilla (I use Jello Brand)
1) Make the cake like normal. Once it's completely baked take it out of the oven to cool for 30-60 minutes. LEAVE IT IN THE PAN!
2) Make the Jello.
3) While the water is preparing to boil for your Jello, take a BBQ fork or a knife and puncture the top of the cake. 6-8 holes in rows of ten or so across the short length of the ckae. Twist the fork/knife JUST a little. Enough to open the holes a tiny bit.
4) Once the Jello is mixed together SLOWLY pour it evenly over the cake (Which is STILL in the pan!). Cover with a cake-pan cover or plastic wrap and throw it in the fridge.
5) About two hours later make your pudding. Once it's all mixed, leave it in the mixing bowl, covewr and throw in the fridge until it's set. I usually let t set for at least an hour.
6) Take the cake and pudding out of the fridge, leaving the cake IN the pan, frost the cake with the pudding. Cover.
7) Put the cake back in the fridge for at least another hour.
8) Enjoy!!
It crossed my mind that it would be possible to make a chocolate version of this cake using Cherry or Raspberry Jello and Chocolate or White Chocolotae pudding. I shall try this soon as I am now consumed with curiosity.
And I have decided I shall share my favorite recipes as my Gift to Fandom this year.
Upcoming: Almost Better Than Sex Cake, Fruit Pizza, Taco Salad, my father's Spanish Rice, my favorite comfort food, a very light and fluffy Pineapple Cheesecake, and my father's Homemade Turkey Noodle Soup.
